Zakat on the Assets of Madaris
In the Fifth Seminar the matter of Zakat on the assets of Madaris was brought to discussion and the following decision was made:
14.1 There is no fixed owner of the funds of Zakat paid to the Madaris or received for Baitul Mal. The owner of these Amwal (moneys) is Allah. Likewise the Amwal or amounts of money given as gift or Sadaqat-e-Nafela to the institutions for expenditure on the deeds of virtue or for prescribed heads of expenditures, enter into the domain of Allah. Therefore, Zakat is not at all obligatory on the amounts deposited in Baitul Maal, Madaris or other charitable institutions of utility and service to religion.
